What we collect, and why
When you submit the enquiry form on this site, we collect your name, email address, phone number, address, postcode, the service you're enquiring about, and any message you add. We use this solely to respond to your enquiry, provide a quote, and — if you go ahead — deliver the job, including any legally required certification. This information is stored in our job management system, which you can also access directly via a secure link we send you (the "Customer Portal").
When you browse this site, we automatically log basic visit data — which page you viewed, how you arrived (e.g. from Google or a link), your approximate city/country (derived from your IP address, which itself is anonymised before storage), your device and browser type, and a random session identifier. This helps us understand which pages and content are actually useful, so we can improve them. We do not use Google Analytics, and we do not use any third-party advertising or retargeting trackers on this site.
Cookies and local storage
The session identifier used for the analytics above is held in your browser's session storage, not a cookie — it's generated fresh each visit and is automatically cleared when you close the browser tab. We don't set any persistent tracking cookies on this site. If that changes in future (for example, if we add advertising tools), we'll update this page and add a cookie consent notice at that point.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your enquiry and job data is processed within our own job management system. Where a job requires it, we may share relevant details with a third party strictly for the purpose of completing the work — for example, submitting a Part P notification to the relevant building control body, or processing a payment through our payment provider.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and job records for as long as reasonably necessary to provide our services and meet our legal and accounting obligations — typically no longer than 7 years for financial and certification records, in line with standard UK record-keeping requirements.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it's wrong, to have it deleted where we're not required to keep it, and to object to how we use it. To exercise any of these, email info@burleighelectrical.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
